Premises liability law - property owners have a duty to maintain their premises in a reasonably safe manner for residents, guests, invitees and others.

  • Floors, stairs, sidewalks and parking areas must be free from hazards such as protruding and hidden objects, uneven floors, slippery floors, bunched-up carpet, hidden wires and other dangers.

  • Property must be well lit so that individuals can see where they are walking and avoid falls, accidents and potential violence.

  • Property must have adequate security services, monitors, security personnel

  • Assaults, including gunshot wounds - property owners are responsible for the safety of residents, shoppers, passers-by and others.

  • Dog bites and exotic animal attacks – animal owners are responsible for the actions of their pets.
